PACKING LIST

SUMMER CAMP PACKING LIST

Here is an example of a camper’s packing checklist for a summer camp in Finland in July-August.

Note: It’s important to label all items with the camper’s name to avoid loss or confusion. Also, if you are unsure if you should take some items with you, you probably should not. Some specific items are not allowed to be brought to the camp: energy drinks, tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, drugs, fire-starting equipment or sharp items or other weapons are not allowed to the camp. Remember the insurance!

PACKING TIPS

  1. Practically all the time is spent outside and the weather conditions may vary a lot. Weather-appropriate clothing is essential for the camper.
  2. All items should be labeled. This makes it much easier to return any lost items..
  3. The camp operator is not responsible for lost or damaged equipment at camp.
  4. Group the  items in bags so that the bag stays organized and the items can be found easily.
  5. It’s a good idea to have an empty bag for dirty laundry.
  6. After the camp, it’s a good idea to check again that all the packed items have returned home.

IMPORTANT – INSURANCE

The camper is required to have personal insurance for accidental injuries during the camp. The camper should have the insurance card or number with them. The guardian needs to make sure the license/insurance is valid during the camp and be aware of the insurance coverage.

If you come outside Finland, then you will need a travel insurance. Travel insurance may also cover lost luggage and other personal items. It may also cover the cost in case you need to cancel the participation in the camp due to illness or such.
